Project reference 20025

Excavator — Road Base Formation

Identify the complete machine sequence, tractor interfaces and reference technology. A machine mentioned in a scenario is not a confirmed compatible attachment or a verified available configuration.

This reference assembles relevant extracts from the guide library. It is general project planning, not a local project report, verified specification or translated technical publication.

Machine Before - Dugong - Machine After

The machine before Dugong determines what material arrives; the machine after Dugong determines what surface must leave. An excavator can expose formation, a loader can deliver a stockpile, and a roller can compact the placed layer. The scraper's role is bounded by those interfaces.

Before moving material

Identify the upstream operation and its remaining defects.

Receiving operation and checks

Hand over the measured surface to compaction, cultivation, paving or turf preparation. Record which operation owns levels, materials and final acceptance.

The workflow can include Dugong where suitable; it does not assume Dugong replaces adjacent equipment.

Road Formation

Road formation establishes the underlying road shape before base and wearing layers. Correcting it early reduces the chance that later layers must absorb excess thickness variation.

Before moving material

Confirm alignment, grade and the layer sequence.

Receiving operation and checks

Verify and compact before adding the next layer. Check crossfall at intervals and where the alignment changes.

A grader scraper may assist selected sections; larger quantities or long corridors may favour other equipment.

Road-Base Preparation

Road-base preparation controls a specified aggregate layer, not ordinary topsoil. Even distribution and the right shape help the compaction and surfacing operations that follow.

Before moving material

Confirm aggregate type, accepted subgrade and planned layer thickness.

Receiving operation and checks

Compact and complete the project's layer-acceptance checks. Measure levels and thickness at representative locations and transitions.

Do not use a nominal scraper load count as evidence of compacted layer depth.

Record the job inputs

Use this checklist to turn the scenario into a specific brief. Retain the design revision and agree who accepts each completed layer.

Checklist ticks apply only while this page is open. Include the completed brief in your project records.
